MalabarJS is committed to providing a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for everyone, regardless of experience level, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, personal appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, age, religion, or nationality.

Our Standards

✅ Expected Behavior

  • Be respectful and considerate in your speech and actions
  • Be welcoming to newcomers and help them feel included
  • Listen actively and give others space to speak
  • Accept constructive criticism gracefully
  • Focus on what's best for the community
  • Show empathy towards other community members

🚫 Unacceptable Behavior

  • Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form
  • Offensive verbal comments related to personal characteristics
  • Unwelcome sexual attention or advances
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
  • Sustained disruption of talks or events
  • Publishing others' private information without consent
  • Any conduct that could reasonably be considered inappropriate

At Events

  • Follow the directions of event organizers
  • Respect the venue and its rules
  • Don't record or photograph people without their consent
  • Be mindful of your surroundings and fellow participants

Online Spaces

  • Keep discussions on-topic and constructive
  • No spam, self-promotion without context, or unsolicited DMs
  • Be patient, not everyone is online at the same time
  • Use content warnings for sensitive topics

Reporting Issues

If you experience or witness unacceptable behavior, please report it as soon as possible:

All reports will be handled with discretion and confidentiality.

Enforcement

Community organizers will take appropriate action in response to any behavior that violates this Code of Conduct. Actions may include:

  • A verbal or written warning
  • Removal from an event without refund (if applicable)
  • Temporary or permanent ban from community spaces
  • Reporting to appropriate authorities if necessary

This Code of Conduct is adapted from the Contributor Covenant and inspired by community guidelines from JS communities worldwide.
